Spam stew Recipe...Every
single household here in Hawaii has a handed down recipe for
Local-Style Stew, normally made with Beef, this recipe is made with
spam.

Ingredients:
- 2 TB vegetable oil
- 3 medium potatoes, 1 1/2–inch cubes
- 1 medium carrot, peeled, 1 1/2–inch cubes
- 2 stalks celery, peeled, 1 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 large onion, 1 1/2–inch pieces
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 3 cups water
- 2 cans (12 oz) low-sodium Spam, 3/4-inch cubes
- 1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 TB Aloha shoyu
- Dash Tabasco
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 TB flour, mixed with 8 TB water
Cooking Process:
In a large sauce pot over medium heat; sauté potatoes, carrot, celery, onion, and garlic in oil. Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, Spam, soy sauce, Tabasco, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Stir in vegetable; stirring to heat through. Stir in flour slurry, stirring until mixture thickens. Makes 6 servings.
